Drums, bass, guitars and keys at once in one room, iso booths for bleed control, and an engineer who mics, routes and logs takes. Built for tight rock, indie, funk and jazz ensemble recordings that move on to mix.
Band recording at Mushyvanta uses our 42 m² live room in Amsterdam plus 2 iso booths for amps or vocals. The building has 3 studio spaces; band days are scheduled so routing and noise stay manageable. Since 2018 we have tracked bands in Amsterdam-West — live as a unit or with overdubs the same day.
€145 hourly and €849 day rates (incl. engineer) cover studio, mics and basic export. Mix and master are separate via mixing and mastering. Plan through contact; prep articles live in the guides.
Process
Pre-production
Send set list, tempos, arrangement notes and approach (live take vs overdubs). We reply within 2 business days with date, hours and deposit.
Load-in
Band arrives, instruments tuned. We place mics, DIs and headphones; drummer gets click or guide if agreed.
Tracking
We capture takes per song until the bed is solid. Overdubs (solo, vocal in booth) same day when time allows.
Export
Engineer exports multitrack or agreed stems within a few business days. Raw archive 12 months; see terms and conditions.
Which bands fit?
Duos up to six-piece groups who want to play together instead of stacking parts at home. Genres vary: indie rock, post-punk, soul, jazz combo, metal with controlled gain — we match mic choice to your amps and playing.
About 8 people at once is our guideline for comfort and safety; larger crews need prior approval. Minimum age 16 with guardians for minors.

Room and signal flow
The live room fits kit, bass amp and guitars; loud amps can go in an iso booth to keep drum mics clean. Signal hits our 32-input console into Pro Tools or the agreed system.

What to bring
Your instruments, picks, sticks, snare if you prefer it, tuners and spare strings. We do not rent a full backline inside the band rate — standard DIs and common mics are on hand.
Send a stage plot and input list ahead. Guide tracks? WAV exports labelled per song. Vocalists can move to vocal recording in the booth without changing location.
Engineer and team
Lars van der Berg is studio manager and recording engineer; sessions may also be run by colleagues. Mix engineer Sophie de Vries does not automatically mix your multitrack — book mixing separately (from €219 per track).
The session engineer handles mic placement, gain staging, talkback and comp notes. Full editing, tuning and production calls outside the session need extra booked time.
Day vs hour
Hourly (€145 incl. VAT): flexible for one or two songs, overdub blocks or smaller line-ups.
Day (€849): ten studio hours with engineer — enough for an EP bed or album day with breaks. Net for business clients around €701.65.

Extra time beyond the day bills hourly. Evening slots within Tue–Sat 10–22.
After the session
Default: multitrack WAV per channel, 24-bit, project sample rate, folder per song. Rough stereo bounce on request for quick feedback — not a substitute for professional mixing.
Export turnaround: usually 2–4 business days depending on track count. Secure download link; physical drive on request. Archive 12 months unless extended.
Booking and cancellation
Confirmed dates need a 30% deposit. Free cancellation up to 7 days ahead; after that terms and conditions. Business invoices may allow 14-day payment after approval.
Street parking in Amsterdam-West is limited; many bands use tram 13 (Tram 13 stop Bellamyplein (5-minute walk). Bus 22 stop Bilderdijkstraat. From Amsterdam Centraal about 15 minutes on tram 13 towards Amsterdam Sloterdijk.). Tell us if you are hauling heavy amps early — we help with stairs.
Not included
Mix, mastering, drum tuning service, backline rental, video shoots, catering and outside producers. Rehearsal space without engineer is another service (€49 per hour self-service).
Damage to your gear is your responsibility; we handle equipment carefully but do not insure your instruments. Questions: FAQ or [email protected].

FAQ
Can we record everything in one live take?
Often yes for the rhythm section; vocals or solos may be dubbed in the booth the same day. Describe your ideal setup in intake so we reserve time and mics.
Is there a drum kit?
We keep a basic kit for sessions; many bands bring snare and cymbals for their sound. Mention it when you contact us.
Can our singer use the iso booth?
Yes, after band takes you can overdub vocals without moving sites. Vocals only without the band is vocal recording at €109 per hour.
What if a member is ill?
Tell us as soon as you can. Cancellation is free up to 7 days ahead; inside that window the deposit may apply or we reschedule.
Do we get raw takes on a USB the same day?
We export per agreement after the session to avoid errors. Rush export is case-by-case.
Can our manager sit in the control room?
One or two guests usually fit; larger groups crowd the room. Max 8 people in the building — confirm ahead.
