Rehearsal space

Rehearse without upsetting neighbours at home: a treated room, PA on stands and a drum kit you can reserve. You run your set and volume; we provide access, basic backline and clear hire rules.

Rehearsal space at Mushyvanta suits bands, duos and projects in Amsterdam who need an affordable room to tighten parts before band recording or gigs. The room is in Amsterdam-West at Bellamystraat 47 — same building as our recording studio, but no engineer in the hourly rate. Since 2018 we have rented blocks to local acts who later track in our 42 m² live room.

Hire is self-service: you plug in, set levels and clear out within your slot. For multitrack and an engineer choose band recording or vocal recording. Hours: Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–22:00; closed Monday and Sunday. Evening sessions by appointment..

Process

Book
Email date, duration (hourly or 4-hour block) and band size. We confirm within 2 business days with payment and house rules.
Check-in
Arrive, show booking confirmation, receive key or access code. Short briefing on exits, power and volume limits.
Rehearse
Use PA, monitors and reserved kit if booked. No engineer on site; for breakdowns call 020 244 8916.
Check-out
Volume down, cables coiled, rubbish out. Overstay may bill extra at €49 per terms and conditions.

Who uses the room?

Bands who cannot run amps at home, duos testing arrangements, or drummers locking in with a bassist. Student and cover bands welcome; keep street-facing volume respectful — homes are nearby.

Minimum age 16; under-16 groups need an adult present. Max 8 people in the room — no parties or audience without written approval.

Gear and backline

Standard: PA with two tops, mixer, vocal mics, monitor(s) and enough power. Drum kit and guitar/bass amps are on request — state this when booking so we reserve gear.

Bring your pedals, heads and cymbals. No recording, tuning or mix during rehearsal hours — those are mixing, podcast recording, etc. No gear storage between hires unless contracted separately.

Rehearsal vs recording

€49 and €169 cover room hire and basics only — no Pro Tools session, engineer or multitrack export. Want captures? Book band recording (€145 per hour with engineer) or vocal recording for vocals alone.

Many bands take a 4-hour block first, then one €849 studio day for the final multitrack. That saves studio time and stress behind the glass.

Overtime bills in started half hours or full hours. Weekly slots may need a 30% deposit. Free cancellation up to 7 days ahead per terms.

Volume and house rules

The room is treated but not a bunker: keep bass-heavy monitoring reasonable, especially evenings. We explain target levels; repeated complaints can end hire without refund.

No alcohol or smoking inside. Bring only safe lighting. Filming or streaming without an engineer needs prior OK — default hire is private practice.

Bring earplugs for everyone in the room; free hearing protection is not part of the hourly rate. If you are unsure about level, ask at check-in for a quick reference so you can rehearse hard without fatiguing the band or neighbours.

Access

Bellamystraat 47, 1053 BL Amsterdam (Amsterdam-West). Tram 13 stop Bellamyplein (5-minute walk). Bus 22 stop Bilderdijkstraat. From Amsterdam Centraal about 15 minutes on tram 13 towards Amsterdam Sloterdijk.. Bike parking outside; tell us if you are hauling heavy amps for stair help.

Your responsibilities

Instruments, cables, sticks, earplugs and your own monitor mix if needed. We do not supply stand-ins or roadies.

Careless damage may be charged to the hirer. Insure gear if needed; disclaimer and terms and conditions cover liability. Data practices: privacy policy.

FAQ

Is an engineer included at €49?

No. The rate is self-service hire. For recording with an engineer choose band recording or vocal recording.

Can we hold a weekly slot?

Yes when available. We ask for a 30% deposit and fixed cancellation rules in terms and conditions.

Is the drum kit always set up?

Only if you request it when booking. Without a request we do not prep a kit for you.

Can we rehearse to backing tracks only?

Yes via aux or Bluetooth by agreement. Stay within the agreed volume — not gig-level in a rehearsal box.

What if we leave late?

The next booking may wait; extra time bills at €49 or part thereof. Pack up on time to avoid conflicts.

Can we store amps between weekly slots?

Not by default. Gear stays on site only with a written storage agreement; otherwise take everything with you after each booking. That keeps the room ready for the next band and avoids mix-ups with cables or pedals.
